Quality you can verify, not just read about.

How we check welds, dimensions and tests: the extent of inspection, codes and documentation always follow the project specification.

Industrial pipe welding in the workshop
QC-01

Welding quality

Weld quality is decided before the arc is struck: joint preparation, cleanliness, choice of process and filler, and gas shielding for stainless steel. Eight experienced welders work on piping, tanks and structures in stainless and carbon steel.

QC-02

Inspection philosophy

We inspect while we build, not only at the end: visual weld checks, dimensional checks on components before assembly, and verification of alignment and orientation before the module is closed. The inspection plan follows the customer specification.

QC-03

Radiographic examination

METALSALD has experience on projects where welded joints were radiographed on up to 100% of joints, when required by the project specification. The extent of examination is the one defined by the customer and the applicable codes.

QC-04

Other NDT

Depending on the specification, visual (VT), penetrant (PT), magnetic particle (MT), ultrasonic (UT) and radiographic (RT) testing are available. Where required, inspections are performed by qualified/certified personnel, for example to ISO 9712 Level 2.

QC-05

Dimensional checks

Overall dimensions, centre distances, nozzle orientation, base flatness and flange alignment are checked before delivery, because that is what decides whether a module connects on site without rework.

QC-06

Material traceability

For projects that require it, materials are handled together with the manufacturer’s certificates.

QC-07

Documentation

At project close-out the customer receives the documentation required by the contract: updated drawings, inspection reports and electrical schematics for the parts wired by METALSALD.

QC-08

FAT and customer inspections

FAT at METALSALD is available: depending on the project it covers hydrostatic and pressure tests, dimensional checks, mechanical alignment, electrical and instrument loop tests and the required NDT. Modules can be inspected by the customer or a third party before shipping.

QC-09

Safety

Welding, lifting and work at height are hazardous activities: staff training, protective equipment and site procedures are part of the job, not a separate document.
